Komodo dragon (varanus komodoensis) is a species of lizard that only inhabits the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores and Gili Motang of Indonesia. They are member of the monitor lizard family (varanidae) and only the largest living species of lizard grow to an average of lenght from 2 - 3 meters (6.6 to 9.8 feet). Komodo National Park is covering the three major islands include Komodo, Rinca, Gili Motang and Padar, and numerous smaller islands together totaling 603 km2 of land.  The total size of Komodo National Park is presently 1,817 km2.  Proposed extensions of 25 km2 of land (Banta Island) and 479 km2 of marine waters would bring the total surface area up to 2,321 km2

 
I T I N E R A R Y

 

Day 01 : Bali - Labuan Bajo - Rinca Island
Pick up service from your hotel in Bali and transfer to the airport. Depart from Bali by domestic flight for Labuan Bajo in West Part of Flores island. Upon your arrival you will be welcomed and met by our local representative. Transfer to the harbor to catch a boat cross to Rinca island. Lunch will be provided. We arrive at Rinca after boating about 2 hours proceeding with hiking to see the activities of komodo dragon for the whole afternoon. All meals provided and accommodation on board.

Day 02 : Komodo - Rinca - Pink Beach - Ruteng

We are slowly moving from Rinca to Komodo island, while enjoying sunrise and breakfast on board, again we begin our trek and hike through the tropical dry forest to explore the Komodo dragon at Komodo island. While entering the park, please keep your look at any directions as sometimes you will also find young komodo dragon hanging over the trees. A local ranger will lead you during the trek. We return on board for relax and lunch before proceed to Pink Beach for a beautiful beach, spectacular snorkel site. In the afternoon return to Labuan Bajo. On your arrival, proceed driving to Ruteng in the afternoon. We arrive in Ruteng in the early evening. Stay overnight at Dahlia Inn or Wisma Susteran in Ruteng

Day 03 : Ruteng - Bajawa

Early morning, we enjoy surroundings of Ruteng town with most cool atmosphere on the island. We walk through the small city and return at hotel in time for breakfast. Afterward, depart to Bajawa, stop in Manoo to see superb rice terraces in the valley, take short walks in Ranamese under a huge tropical rainforest and see the crater lake. Lunch box provided. Stop in Mborong for coffee refreshment, in Kisol to scrutinized the vanilla plantation, see "arak" distillation and fresh palm juice tapping in Airmere. Arrive in Bajawa, dinner at Camelia Restaurant and night at Bintang Wisata, Silverin or any similar hotel.

Day 04 : Bajawa - Bena - Riung

After breakfast, excursion to Bena passing through huge and gigantic bamboo plantation, picture Inerie volcano and take short walks in the vicinity. Arrive in Bena, see traditional houses and megalithic tombs, learn the meaning of Ngadhu and Bhaga symbolizing male and female of ancestral spirit. Back to Bajawa, lunch. Drive to Soa, swim in a warm water springs and relaxation and enjoying coffee refreshment at the resort near by. Proceed to Riung. Dinner and overnight at Pondok SVD.

Day 05 : Riung - Detusoko

After breakfast, depart from Riung to Moni diving through Mbay and Aegela (the irigation area of Flores island), Stop in Nangapanda to see local collecting blue stone from beach for export items from Flores. Then drive onward to Ende. Lunch served at local restaurant of Ende, enjoy a spectacular view of this tiny city among the three semi volcanoes. Late afternoon arrive in Detusoko and stay overnight at Wisma St. Fransiskus Saverius (missionary house)..

Day 06 : Detusoko - Kelimutu - Maumere

Early morning drive up to the three colored lake of Kelimutu, one of the Indonesia's most mysterious and dramatic sights. The three lakes, set in deep craters at a height of 1,600m.Down to Moni for breakfast, then continue to Maumere with stop at Lio hill tribes of Jopu  and Ranggase, offers fine Ikat weaving, then the village of Wolowaru. Lunch is provided. Dinner and accommodation at Sea World Club or Pelita Hotel

Day 07 : Maumere - Sumba Island

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport. Fly to Tambolaka of Sumba island.
Upon arrival in Tambolaka transfer directly to Waikabubak. Visit beautiful traditional villages, such as Tarung and Puunaga, surround the town. In those villages one can have a closer look into the unique high roofed houses, the stone tombs and even you still can see Andung - the branched wood pole used to hang the skull of the village enemies after the inter clan war

Day 08 : Waikabubak - Kodi - Waikabubak

After breakfast, drive to Kodi district with enroute stop at Tambolaka and Waimangura village. Arrive at Kodi visit Ratenegaro and Pronobaroro village that have the highest roofs and biggest tombs on the island. Return to Waikabubak. All meals provided. Overnight at hotel

Day 09 : Waikabubak - Wanokaka - Waingapu

After breakfast, depart to Waingapu in the eastern part of Sumba island with en-route stop at Wanokaka (where the Pasola event take place). "Please note - Pasola is NOT performed daily)" and few of highlight on the way to the east. All meals provided. Upon arrival in Waingapu, direct transfer to Merlin Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 10 : Waingapu (Sumba) - Denpasar (Bali)

After breakfast, morning visit to Kawangu and Prailiu village to see the "masterpiece" artwork of handicraft textile, traditional houses and tombs of Merapu cosmic religion.
